Homepage

The main page of a website.В  Generally, this is the page that will tell the visitor what the site will be about and provide navigation to the various supporting web pages.

Host

A central computer that contains a specific kind of service that can be accessed by other computers.В  In web hosting, a host would be a server that holds the web files for one or more websites and runs programs to support it.

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

A programming language that is specifically designed to create web pages.В  HTML has become the foundation for all websites as it is has formatting capability, image manipulation and structuring through the use of tags.

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

A web protocol that manages the connection of a web browser on your local computer with a web server.В  This protocol makes it possible to view sites, transfer data and surf the web in general.В  In the early stages of the web, it was necessary to type in the protocol as part of a web address to make a successful connection.В  However, it is no longer needed as it has become a widely accepted that websites would, by default, be using HTTP so simply entering a web address is sufficient.
